New York (short short reflection)

Before leaving for New York, I told my friends and family that I will either really like it or really dislike it... turns out... I actually quite like it... but not in ways I would have imagined.  Below I separate the things into categories: What I was impressed with and things I was disappointed:

street near Union Square

The impressing:

People are extremely friendly (even friendlier than Torontonians =O)
The city, though being old, was considerably clean and very orderly

HOPE sign

New York seems to have a way to motivate people to be better. When I first arrived, I immediately noticed myself wanting to be better: as a better person, as a better individual, ...
Central Station Terminal was absolutely beautiful... it is the most beautiful station I have ever been to

Grand Lobby of The Met

The Metropolitan Museum of Art was huge... their collection was beyond impressing
Food was surprisingly cheap (compared to Toronto)

The Disappointments:

The public wifi sucks... what wifi? There is none available. The only one I managed to connect to was the one on top of Rockefeller Center.

The subway has major delays according to the schedule, I should have made it to a certain place at 10:30... but the unexpected delays delayed my trip till 11:30...

a random subway station

Some subway stations look like jail cells (XD).
I liked how the subway and train system connects the whole city, but... they need major renovations and maintenance done on it.

ok!... so it looks like there is WAY more to talk about... so I will do a part 2 of this :)

Discrimination in Tokyo

what you are about to read is probably quite unexpected. I know a lot of people would assume I am talking about Japanese discriminating... but that is not it.

ok... I don't deal with BS... but I had a moment of discrimination in Tokyo... by a group of... I couldn't tell whether they were American, Australian, Canadian or English (but it was clear they were speaking English)... I didn't have time to analyze their "accent"... not that I would care enough to...

so while I was doing grocery shopping... a group of 3... Caucasian looking people just walked in front of me and stared at me as if I was a lower status human being and gave the "I am going to walk in front of you" look... my thoughts were... "seriously?!??!?! You DO realize... you are in Asia... you are the minority here... where do you think you are?... who do you think you are???"

Just had this WTH moment I want to share... 🙄🙄🙄

Firsts and New Beginnings

first full moon of 2018 (Tokyo, Japan)
Firstly, Happy New Year!!! Wishing you a blessed Happy New Year filled with lots of joy and blessings!!! This post is about firsts, so I want to share with you some random pictures I captured on my phone, while they aren't Instagram worthy, (please don't judge) they do give you a feel of many firsts... and that's what I hope for this year, that there will be many firsts.

first rain of 2018 (Tokyo, Japan)

I won't lie... 2017 was tough. It consisted of many pain and suffering. It was very challenging and sometimes I just wanted to give up... the only motivation which held me was God and His promises. I somehow feel that the storm is coming to an end... so I'm definitely anxious to see what is in store for me.
