maturity

Everyone needs to live by themselves/alone at one point in their lives. It isn't to be independent, it is to become responsible.

loneliness

The lonelinest feeling isn't living by yourself. The loneliest feeling is living with others but they make you feel like you are living alone.

autumn in my yard

thanks to the warm weather, we are still enjoying the fall colours :D 🍂 🍁 🍃

I love the vividness of the pink leaves (I'm kind of embarrassed for not knowing the name of this bush... it has been with me for over 22 years 🫣 )

Remembrance Day/Memorial Day

Now, more than ever, we are reminded of the blessing of being in peace. On this day, Remembrance Day/Memorial Day, we reflect on the privilege most have taken for granted, a peaceful world.

It is heartbreaking to see so much conflict happening around the world.

When I was still in school, I was forced to memorize this poem every year for Remembrance Day, and now, as the wars are becoming more intense, this poem speaks so much more to me than before. Please take a moment to reflect on each word and what it means to you.

original handwritten version

In Flanders Fields

by John McCrae 1919

In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Rose in autumn

raw walnut

I have never seen raw walnuts before... I never even thought of what they were or what they looked like... I've only known them as shelled or unshelled.

Today, I saw one... predried... (I thought it was a plum, pear... etc) but my phone told me it was a walnut! :O

If you ever wondered, or not... well... now you know :)

wood wick candle

I didn't know what people meant when they said they preferred wood wicks over normal cotton wicks... but after using my first one... I can see why people prefer them. (I think both are good in their own ways)

side view

Wood wicks make a unique crackle sound and cotton wicks don't. Wood wicks burn quicker than cotton wicks.
