friend: Steph, you should really go to Taiwan, lots of good food there! :D
me: I want to, but how do I communicate with them?
friend: oh, you'll be fine!
me: do they speak English there? -_____-
friend: no
me: I'm sure they don't speak Cantonese though
friend: yeah, they don't
me: how do I communicate with them?
friend: ... erm... just speak Cantonese... it is close enough, I think Cantonese is similar to Taiwanese
