I finally have time to try these... they were more or less similar to the Belgium chocolate version... Not too sweet and bland tasting... the cheesecake inside was slightly overshadowed by the taste of this chocolate/Skor shell.

Costco Hotdogs

 

I bought the beef wieners that are used in Costco's hotdogs... they are soooOOOOooo good. However, I realized that buying an actual hotdog at the Warehouse is cheaper than this pack of hotdogs....

Costco's hotdogs are inflation beaters! 💪

As a result of inflation, I noticed that beer cans (volume) are getting smaller... the Stella Artois on the left is one of my recent purchases while the other two were bought several months earlier.

EGGO

 

I have been watching Strangers Things... and it got me craving Eggo waffles :P...  I went to the grocery store and discovered Eggo's Belgium-style waffles... these are quite good :) 

They are sweeter and thicker than regular Eggo waffles

Shredded Chicken

 

Hand-Shredded Chicken (Chinese style) (手撕雞 in Chinese) is one of my favourite chicken dishes. There is a good blend of sesame oil, sesame, salt, 5 flavoured powder and green onions.

And just like how the name suggests, it is hand shredded :)

Twirl Candy Bar

 

I have never seen these Twirl (Cadbury) Chocolate bars before... these contain 2 chocolate rolls... but they weren't as good as they look...

Sesame French Bread

These are so good <3 I got this loaf (and many loaves after this) at my local Metro (grocery store). Whenever you are looking for bread, you can never go wrong with French :)

Miffy and Belle

 

These two are cuddled nicely in my bed.

Belle is Snoopy's sister, they were from the same litter. And everyone should know who Miffy is :)

Today I Learned: summer, the season of 通菜

 

青通菜

The summer season brings 通菜 (translates to hallow veggie...?). They are called water spinach in English. These are named hallow because the stem is hallow :) 

It is also known as 潺菜.

One of my food highlights of summer is being able to eat these hallow Water spinaches. They are only available from late June till early July of the Lunar calendar.

There are two types: 白骨通菜 (White Water Spinach) and 青通菜 (Green Water Spinach).

The White Water Spinach is grown in the water, also known as Water Lily. The Green Water Spinach is grown in soil, it is known as the early/Morning water lily.

The White Water Spinach has thicker stems and leaves and tastes crispier than the Green Water Spinach. The texture is smooth and rigid. However, farmers (and Chinese) recommend eating the White Water Spinach after the rain (the significant rainfall that happens in the middle of summer) because it is extra crispy and more flavourful.

My family opted for the Green Water Spinach because it is softer in texture.

turns out they were the perfect amount of sweet... but I thought they were slightly dry...
