Yew Plum Pine

 

We are only a 3-hour flight (2100 km) away (Toronto to New Orleans) and yet, some of their plants are quite different from the ones I'm used to seeing. For example, this Yew Plum Pine... looked so cute I couldn't resist and took a picture of it.

NOMA - New Orleans Art Museum

We are almost at the art museum! And before we went inside, we went to the Sculpture Garden first (it is part of the exhibition). All these photos are not in order. (there were lots of sculptures, I only took pictures of a few)

 

This sculpture is called Karma

I thought this was interesting... but I forgot the name of it

This is called "Motherhood" (I think)

Everywhere I go, I see "LOVE" ❤️  :D

Elm trees!

 

Elm Trees

After lunch, we decided to head NOMA (New Orleans Museum of Art), it is located a bit further from the city. We took the tram/streetcar and arrived at the entrance. NOMA is located inside the city park, so we had the opportunity to enjoy walking and exploring the park. 

Since this is my first time in the southern states area, it is my first time seeing elm trees!! I was captivated by the smoothness of their barks and the shape of the trees was very unfamiliar to me. I was also fascinated by their... grassy leafy fluffs dangling from some of the trees!

According to my phone, this is also an Elm tree, but a different species. 

The pictures do not do it justice, it is actually REALLY big, if I stood next to it, I wouldn't even reach the first branch's height.

Look at how smooth their bark is :) the elm tree quickly became one of my favourite trees :D

I can't believe I had forgotten to take a picture of Creole House (google it, the outside looks nice 😊 )

We ordered Crab Cakes, which came with coleslaw

We ordered a seafood platter... there were fish, shrimp, hush puppies and fries :)

Grits! I keep hearing about grits, and we finally got to try it :)

housekeeping downtime

While waiting for housekeeping to finish up cleaning our room, we decided to spend some time in the lounge area, we found a book (written 20+ years ago) and we decided to see which restaurants are still standing :)

I love their lobby <3... it is comfy and cozy. It isn't busy... and there is plenty of sunlight :)
