Today I learned... Japanese driving instructors

One of my students who happen to be obsessed with cars told me that in order to qualify as a driving instructor you must first be a car racer.

The Japanese feel that if you are capable of being a car racer, you are good enough to teach and instruct others.

Road safety is their top priority, which means only the best can teach that... if someone can handle drifting, speeding, etc safely... what else can't they do.

I can't believe all Japanese driving instructors are car racers :O

I have a new respect for Japanese driving instructors!

Bunny cars!

Hong Kong Kowloon Shangri La Apr. 2015
Hong Kong Kowloon Shangri La Hotel Apr. 2015

Sorry for the lateness... (in this case, it was 2 years ago...writer's block can be quite long)

These electric cars were decorated with bunny ears to celebrate Easter!

Aren't they cute? I also love the eyelashes!! They really made the car look "bunny" enough.

I never would have thought Shangri-La to do something like this... But cool! :D

p.s. I miss Hong Kong :(

Perception...

Blu Jam side order - Pancake with Chocolate chips

It's funny how sometimes our perception and what we see determines what we think about something, isn't it? this is why the fashion and cosmetics industries continue to thrive.

Let's take this pancake, for example, when it came, I immediately thought it would taste bad because it looked burnt. But to my surprise, when I took my first bite, I immediately recognize the "brown" stuff as chocolate. My brain and taste buds started to have a battle and I wasn't sure whether I liked it or not.

Prejudice is very evident in our society, we always judge based on what we see and connections we have with what is "evident".

I encourage us to take time to think about what we believe to be true... can we be wrong?

Today I learned... batteries

One of my students who is a battery engineer (who knew they existed :O) told me that the perfect percentage to keep your batteries is at 50%. This ensures that the positive ions (?) and negative ions are balanced.

When a battery is dead at 0% all the ions go to the positive side and when a battery is fully charged at 100% all the ions go to the negative side. This makes the battery very weak and vulnerable.

please excuse the contents... 😅

Her suggestions were if you want to maintain your phone at good health, charge your phone battery when you sleep (we were mainly talking about phones, which is the biggest concern for most people and also the most used device with a lithium battery) and do not charge it again till it reaches 30%.

Girl Gatherings!!

As I enter my 30s, I learn to appreciate time with other girls. I'm not saying I didn't before, but I value just spending quality time (instead of shopping). (The food was amazing!! Thanks, Kim! <3)

I didn't cook any of this
When I gather with Christian girls, it is even special because we all feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. :)
Mickey and Minnie mouse cup
the cutest cup :D
For those who aren't aware (already) I am a huge Mickey and Minnie mouse fan :D
tea or blood?
they refuse to float up :(

the teabag looks like it was bleeding into the cup... blood is a reasonable interpretation: colorwise and viscosity-wise

Peninsula Hotel

Kowloon Peninsula Hotel and bus
(I actually wrote this back in 2015... and found it sitting at the bottom of my drafts, not sure why it never got published... thought I would reminisce on HK and show you this...)

what a strange sight at the Peninsula Hotel lately... why is there a bus "stuck" on their roof?

I looked everywhere, it didn't seem that they were doing any promotions yet it didn't look like the bus was accidentally stuck there...

weird sightings are always exciting...
